(DALIANNEWS)- The Underwater Robot Picking Contest 2019 kicks off at Jinshitan in Dalian, a port city of Northeastern China's Liaoning Province, August 22, 2019, attracting 35 teams across the country.

The contest has been held successfully for two years since 2017. As the only high-end competition of underwater robots in the real offshore environment in the world, the contest combines the scientific research results with the marine pasture industry organically and opens up an innovative application in artificial intelligence in China. 

The event has three qualifying competitions including target recognition, man-machine cooperative grasping and autonomous grabbing from August 22 to 23,  and a final on Zhangzi Island in Changhai County on August 24 and 25.

The 2019 Summit Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Underwater Robots and China Multimedia Technology Conference will also be held on August 26, 2019, promoting the technical and industrial practice in the field of underwater robot in China.
