Founded in 1999 to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Dalian, this seaside park covers over 450 hectares and has a 1,200-meter long coastline. The park is scenically situated on Binhai (Beach) Road, near downtown and Bangchui Island Scenery Spot. It is dotted with numerous sculptures, and there is even a huge and conspicuous sculpture deemed as the symbol of the park. A trail named "Eighteen Windings" twists and turns, providing a physical challenge for visitors. Another interesting must-see is the "Weird Slope."

The Bungee-jumping Recreational Company built a 510-meter-long cableway from the top of a sightseeing elevator at Xinghai Park down to Silvery Beach. With a drop of 50 meters, the jump (or flight) takes about one exhilarating minute. All of the facilities and technology are imported from Canada and the company has an excellent safety record. During the flight, the beautiful seascape and scenery of Dalian come into full view. One jump costs CNY80.

Jinshi Yuan Park
A forest of rocks

Legend has it that about 10 years ago, during the construction of a hotel, gold colored rocks of striking shapes were unearthed. After years of careful excavation, the planned hotel was replaced by Jinshi Yuan Park, a forest of 20-meter-high rocks. The uniquely shaped rocks are often described as imaginative sculptures of nature. Also nicknamed as a "Natural Geological Museum" and a "Concrete Animal World," the park's rocks were formed by erosion 600-million years ago, the same age during which the dinosaurs once lived.

Labor Park
A park for the people

Located in the shadow of Lushan Mountain, this park has close ties with China's history. After liberation took place more than 100 years ago the local citizenry restored the park's beauty and erected a monument with the words ?Work Create World? carved into it. Since then, it has been recognized as Labor Park. A massive lawn lined with more 300,000 flowers is the park's centerpiece. It also offers amusement rides, a game farm full of peacocks, deer, and cranes, a lotus pond and the famous red-and-white soccer ball sculpture that acknowledges Dalian as China's "football town."

Renmin Square (People's Square)

Once known as Stalin Square, due to a large monument in memory of the Northeast liberation by the Soviet army, it was changed to its present name in 1994. The monument was taken from the square in 1999 and replaced by a massive European-style fountain and white marble cloister. The square consists of four lawns each measuring some 10,000 square meters. It is the place to gawk at government buildings and to spend a leisurely summer day watching locals fly kites and maneuvering through morning exercises.

Tiger Beach Park

Tiger Beach is one massive vortex of fun. Built in 1990, this amusement area caters to both kids and adults by offering a diverse scope of options including shopping and swimming. But it's the animal exhibits that really elevate it into "Must See" status. China's largest birdcage (18,000 square meters) and largest tiger sculpture reside here. It also harbors an aquarium that features an entertaining dolphin show.

White Cloud Mountain
Stunning park with stunning views

White Cloud Mountain rates as one of the area's largest parks and most stunning attractions. Visitors can drive up its zig-zagging road to the summit and get awed by staggering views of West Peak, which towers above sea level at 259 meters. The panoramic view from on top also affords astral views of Dalian, Xiaoping Island, Xinghai Park and Fu Jia Village. Northwest vistas reveal a lotus shaped coastline of twisting, rolling ridges which rank as one of China's true geological wonders.
