(DALIANNEWS)- The city's mayor Tan Chengxu met the delegation from Slovakia, in Dalian, a port city of Northeastern China's Liaoning Province, March 27, 2019.
Tan extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the city's social and economic development to the visitors.
"Dalian is one of the most representative cities in China's reform and opening-up. The Port of Dalian has established shipping contacts with more than 300 ports in over 160 countries and regions, undertaking more than 70% of the international trade goods and more than 80% container transportation in Northeast China. It has also opened six train lines connecting central European countries, making it one of the key contructed ports of the 'One Belt One Road' Strategy in Northeast China. We will actively create a comprehensive pilot area of the 'belt and road', and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries and regions along the 'belt and road' area to seek win-win development.”, said Tan.
"The 5th working meeting of the China-CEEC Association of Governors of Provinces and Regions will be held in Dalian. During this period, Dalian-CEEC Economic and Trade Matchmaking Meeting will also be held, which we welcome Slovak entrepreneurs to participate in. ”, added Tan.
Tan also hoped that the delegation could introduce Dalian to Slovak enterprises, building a friendly exchange bridge between Dalian and Slovak cities so as to promote deeper cooperation between the two sides.

We hope that the two sides could further tap the potential of the China-Europe train connecting Bratislava, Slovakia and Dalian, China, expanding in-depth cooperation in related fields and achieving fruitful results.”, said the leader of the delegation from Slovakia.
During the meeting, both sides talked about Marek Hamsik, Slovakia's national football player who joined Dalian Yifang Football Club. The leader of the Slovak delegation said that they had communicated with Marek Hamsik during the visit, hoping that he could integrate into the new team as soon as possible and bring more surprises to this football-loving city.
