DALIAN, Northeast China, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang announced that it signed South Korean coach Choi Kang-Hee on Monday.

The 59-year-old Choi, who had previously been named the new coach of another CSL club Tianjin Quanjian last November, took charge of training at Dalian Yifang in recent days after Tianjin was mired in a management crisis.

Choi's contract with the Tianjin team had been expected to become effective in the 2019 season.

No details were released about the deal with Choi, who also acted as assistant coach of the South Korean national team in 2002-2004 before leading the Asian powerhouse to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as coach during his spell in 2011-2013.

Having taken the helm at Jeonbuk in 2005, Choi won six K League 1 titles with the team, the most of any coach, in addition to one Korea Football Association Cup trophy and two Asian Football Confederation Champions League crowns.

Dalian Yifang managed to make it to the Chinese top flight after the 2017 season and finished the 11th in the 16-member CSL standings last year.
