(DALIANNEWS)- Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-sweeping Day, is an important occasion for Chinese to honor their ancestors. Many also spent the three-day holiday on leisure travel this year despite the low temperature in Dalian.
The port city of Dalian saw a total of 731,000 domestic and overseas tourists during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, an increase of 10.59 percent than that of the previous year.
The tourism comprehensive revenue hit 1.097 billion yuan during this period, increasing 12.86 percent than that of the previous year.
A total of 391,200 tourists visited the scenic spots in Dalian, with a year-on-year increase of 10.2 percent, while the revenue reached 39.65 million yuan increasing by 12.63 percent. About 85,000 tourists visited the hot springs with an increase of 13.03 percent year-on-year while countryside saw 103,000 tourists, an increase of 10.2 percent.
It was high time for climbing mountains, picking fruits, eating traditional meals in farm or fishery homes and bathing in hot springs during the vacation. A variety of preferential activities and boutique lines were also introduced in the city's different scenic spots.

Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park launched the 9th seabird conservation festival with more than 20,000 tourists in three days, while Dalian Forest Zoo witnessed 13,000 visitors in the holiday.
Xijiao National Forest Park has become the preferential destination for tourists with 16,000 visitors daily during the vacation.
Cha'an Town also launched a series of activities to pick fruits and vegetables, eat traditional meals in a farm and go spring outing, attracting over 8,000 tourists daily, while Chengyuan Hot Spring Villa witnessed more than 4,600 tourists daily during the three-day holiday.
Over 28,000 tourists visited Xiangzhou rural town during the vacation, and a total of 27,600 tourists went to Discoveryland.
The hot spring hotels in Pulandian saw an occupancy rate of over 80 percent during the vacation.
The self-driving tour has become a major way for family to travel during the Qingming Festival holiday. Over 70 percent of the visitors choose this way to enjoy their holidays.
Local Tourism volunteers also became a beautiful scenery for this holiday. On April 3 and 4, more than 40 volunteers dressed in uniforms to the Hero Park, promoting civilized sacrifice and forest fire protection, as well as providing travel advisory services to the public and tourists.
