(DALIANNEWS)- There are many must-see things for travellers in Dalian, and one of them you can't miss out is the old style tram.

The trams with more than 100 years' history remain being used in Dalian, a port city of Northeastern China's Liaoning Province.

Like mobile buildings and living fossils, the trams shuttle across the city. They are not only an important means of transport but a historical testimony of this century-old city.

The history of trams in Dalian can be traced back to 1909 when the city operated its first tram traffic route followed by Tianjin and Shanghai. In those early days, local residents called them "Huge American Wooden Cages".

Today the well-perserved trams are operated along No.201 line which passes through the bustling residential areas to tranquil places at the east edge of the city.

The trams represents a mixture of old and new. When you get on a tram car, you may probably feel that you are in a lounge, because some trams still remain their old style with purly wooden interior decoration.

The picture above shows the interior of a tram in Dalian. The tram has become a must-see thing for travlers, especially the ones who visit Dalian for the first time.

The wooden design of the doors and windows, copper lights and handrails, upward-sliding windows as well as copper window fences, all of these elements bring your memory back to the early 20th century.

The interior of the tram still remains its old style, witnessing the city's centry-old history.

It's a good choice for tourists to visit the city's downtown area by tram. Looking out of the window, you may also experience the modernity of this city with numerous skycrapers and well-organized streets.

We highly recommend tourists who enjoy European-style buildings, lush lawns and various charming squares to take a tram from Dalian Railway Station to Huale Square.
