Dalian approved to set up experimental zone for cruise tourism develoment in China

(DALIANNEWS)- The port city of Dalian was approved to set up an experimental zone for cruise tourism develoment in China by China National Tourism Administration, news announced from a press conference of Dalian Municipal Government in Dalian, a port city of Northeastern China’s Liaoning Province, August 7, 2017.

This kind of experimental zone will also be set up in other five domestic cities including Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Qingdao and Fuzhou.

Dalian started the cruise home-port construction in 2015. According to the schedule, the cruise home-port will set up two 150,000-ton class large-scale international cruise docks in the east and west of No.2 Dock of Dagang Port.

The two international cruise docks are designed to transport 800,000 passengers annually in total. The project in the west is expected to be finished in 2017, while the one in the east is due to be completed in 2018.

The port city of Dalian has operated the cruise tourism business ever since 1976. In the past over 30 years, the city received over 200 cruises with more than 300,000 tourists, making a great influence in Northeast China. The city’s international cruise center at the port of Dalian is expected to receive 33 cruises this year with over 60,000 inbound nd outbound tourists.
