(DALIANNEWS)- COSCO OCEANIA, a vessel subordinated to Ocean Alliance’s American West line, carrying 24 standard containers of cherries from Seattle, the USA, docked at Dayaowan Harbor, part of Port of Dalian, several days ago, after 12 days voyage.
It was also the first batch of high-end fruits imported from America through a direct shipping route to the port city of Dalian.
The 24 standard containers of cherries were unloaded within two hours, and went through customs with only four hours. Then they were distributed to Northeast China and North China as soon as possible.
The throughput of cold chain cargoes at the port of Dalian have seen an increase year by year in recent years with over 120,000 imported standard containers annually, and the market share of the fruits, poultry, sea products has also reached the forefront of other domestic ports in China for years.
Taking the port of Dalian as a distribution center, the imported cold chain goods have been distributed to Northeast China and most part of North China.
The newly-operated shipping route for the cold storage of fruits will take only 12 days on the sea, with the voyage time 40 percent shorter than the previous sea route which should be transferred at Hong Kong in China, Busan in South Korea and other ports. Compared with the transportation by air, the logistics cost will also see over 40 percent reduction by this newly-opened sea route.
In the future, traders will continue to bring in high-end food from America including raisins, apples, oranges as well as fresh meat through this cold storage shipping route from Seattle to Dalian. The weekly imported volume is conservatively estimated to over 300 standard containers in the near future.
