Added value of logistics industry expected to occupy 10.8 percent of GDP

(DALIANNEWS)- The city’s added value of logistics industry is expected to account for 10.8 percent of GDP in the first half of this year, news announced from Dalian Logistics Industry Meeting, in Dalian, a port city of Northeastern China’s Liaoning Province, July 21, 2017.

The port cargo throughput and container throughput see an increase of 2.3 percent and 0.9 percent than that of the last year, while the airport cargo throughput witnesses an increase of 14.1 percent, up 5.2 percent than that of the previous year.

Apart from that, the railway cargo handling capacity increases from minus 14.2 percent last year to 24.1 percent this year, the highway freight volume sees an increase of 4.8 percent, and the business volume of local express companies witnesses an increase of 22.4 percent.

The city of Dalian has taken a series of measures to develop logistics industry in recent years. The rapid growth of e-commerce, cold chain and express industry, which are all related to the consumers, also makes the city’s logistics industry develop fast. In addition, Dalian Area of Liaoningn FTZ also provides an opportunity for the city to boost its logistics industry in the future.
