China's highways to be toll-free for passenger cars with seven seats or less during Spring Festival

(DALIANNEWS)- The country's highways will operate toll-free during the upcoming Chinese traditional Spring Festival holiday from January 27 to February 2 this year.

Local transport authority also announced on Wednesday that the city's highways will be toll-free for passenger cars with seven seats or less from 0:00 on January 27 to 24:00 on February 2 when most Chinese will go home for the Spring Festival and return to work.

According to the report, the Shenyang-Haikou Expressway Dalian Section is expected to see a travel peak with over 100,000 auto vehicles from the afternoon of January 26 to the afternoon of January 27, and the return-trip travel peak will occur from the afternoon of February 1 to February 2 all day with over 120,000 auto vehicles.

China has implemented the toll-free policy during the Spring Festival holiday ever since 2013.

The upcoming Spring Festival, the most important Chinese traditional festival of family reunions, will fall on January 28 this year.
