Chinese athletes swept medals of Dalialn Int’l Marathon

Men’s whole range marathon gold medalist Zhang Qingle

(DALIANNEWS) – Zhang Qingle, from Jiangsu Province swept the gold medal of the men’s whole range competition of the 22nd Dalian International Marathon in Dalian on Sunday, April 20, 2008.

The Jiangsu young man, 21, won the race in two hours 17 minutes and 40 seconds, followed by Wang Lei in 2:19:0 and Zhang Fucheng in 2:20:44.

Zhnag refreshes the record of the Dalian International Marathon in the past five years.

Chang Jinxue, from Heilongjiang Province, led the women’s whole range marathon in 2:43:26, followed by Wang Linlin and Yang Yang, both from Liaoning Province.

“I’m very happy to participate in this kind of competition though I haven’t got good places,” said a 29- year- old S. Korean contestant, adding that he’s willing to go to Beijing to experience the Olympics.

The competition, started from Xinghai Square Century Castle and ended at People's Stadium, attracted 8,600 contestants from 37 countries and regions including South Korea, Japan, Kenya, South Africa, Russia, Germany, US, Canada, Canada and Chinese Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei as well as 29 domestic cities.
