(DALIANNEWS)- "We would like to provide an opportunity for young people to contact with new friends. As the speed-dating is quite popular in America, we organize such kind of event in Dalian and see if the Chinese can accept this direct way to enlarge their social circles," said Miss Jin, the organizer of a speed-dating event, in Dalian, a coastal city of northeastern China's Liaoning Province, January 27, 2008.

Each gentleman had a chance to have a five-minute date with his female partner. All the gentlemen had to leave their seats and move on to a new partner after every five minutes when the organizer rang the bell as a signal. Some participants seemed talking happily, while others were a little inhibited.

 "It is the first time for us to hold such activity, and we hope more friends will attend it next time," said Jin.

"It is exciting," said Shino Chan, a participator of the activity. "I am happy to know new friends through this activity. It would be better if the participators can play games during the speed-dating event."
