In 2002, the added value of industry was 59.76 billion Yuan, increased by 14.7%, calculated according to comparable prices, 31.55 billion Yuan of which was gained by industrial enterprises of certain scale (wholly state-owned industrial enterprises, state holding enterprises and non-state owned enterprises with annual sales revenue more than 5 million Yuan), increased by 18.9%.

[Induustrial Production]
In year 2002, the total output of industrial enterprises with certain scale was 124.5 billion Yuan, 15.5% more than that of the previous year, calculated by the comparable price.

Among them, 71.13 billion Yuan was generated by state-owned industrial enterprises and state holding enterprises, increased by 18.1%, 4.842 billion Yuan by joint-stock enterprises, increased by 21.3%. Classified according to heavy and light industries, the output of the light industry was 36.02 billion Yuan and heavy industry was 88.48 billion Yuan, up 20.05% and 12.06% respectively.

In 2002, the products sales rate of the industrial enterprises with certain scale came to 98.07%, 0.76% higher than that of the previous year.

The products sales rate of the light industry was 95.9%, a drop of 1.14% and that of the heavy industry was 98.95%, a rise of 1.53%.

While classified according to the type of economy, the products sales rate of the state-owned enterprises and the state holding enterprises was 98.5%, the collectively-owned enterprises was 96.52%, the cooperative enterprises was 98.15%, the joint-stock enterprises was 97.61%, the foreign-funded enterprises and the enterprises funded by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan was 98.14% and other types of enterprises was 93.76%.
 

[PrEvoducts Output]
The output of the active additive increased by 15.2%, the outer cover of Meridian tires by 14.1%, the chemical fibre by 26.5%. The output of the products with high-level technology grew rapidly.

Among them, refrigeration air-conditioners and mobile phones increased by times, electronic tools increased by 31.8%, electronic component increased by 24.2%, metal-cutting machines increased by 49.8%. The added power and the total power supplied by the refrigeration processing equipment increased by 9% and 10.3% respectively. The amount of lifting equipment, internal combustion engines and steel vessels for civil use rose by 9.1%, 16.9% and 6.5% respectively.

Among the popular and durable consumer goods and light industrial products closely related to the life of the people, the quantity of compact discs and video compact disc players grew by 13.7% and 2.8 times respectively, fax machines by 18.4%, hi-fis by 12.6%, garments by 12.6%, chemical fibre cloth by 28.4% and dairy products by 36.4%.

The output value of the new products in the industrial enterprises with certain scale was 17.26 billion Yuan, up 43.47% over that of the previous year. 1250 new products were developed and 620 were put into production, among which, 45 have obtained the certification of National key and New Products, 14 were listed on the Plan of the National Key Technology Innovation Project, 4 were placed in the Plan of the National Key Equipment Innovation and Development Project.

[Important Projects]
3.5 million tons of petroleum catalytic cracking equipment and 6 million tons of distillation devices in Dalian Petrochemical Enterprises were completed and started operation A group of technical innovation projects were finished in Dalian Bearing Factory, Shengdao Glassware Factory, Bingshan Group and Dalian Kinscope Factory, etc. 18 projects invested with national debt started construction, 7 of which have completed. 10 enterprises such as the one engaged in machine tool cast wholly moved out of the town. 9 industrial parks including the Digital Manufacturing Park took the shape. More than 30 transnational corporations replenished their capital and expanded production or set up in Dalian including Japanese Panasonic, Sanyo, Toshiba, Canon, American Goodyear, Swedish SKF and German Tyssen Krupp, etc.


[Enterprises Reform]
91.5% of state-owned large and medium-sized key enterprises have built modern enterprises system. 70% of medium-sized and small enterprises under the municipality have reformed their system. 10 large enterprises were almost up to the Star information management level. 20 large and medium-sized enterprises realized computer management in logistics and capital.


[Enterprises Benefit]
The products sales income of the industrial enterprises with certain scale reached 120.36 billion Yuan, increased by 11.7%. The total volume of profit came to 4.34 billion Yuan after balancing the profit and loss. The products sales income of the state-owned enterprises and the state holding enterprises was 69.14 billion Yuan, taking up 54.7% of the total, with 4.65 billion Yuan of profits tax and 1.42 billion Yuan of favorable balance which increased by 10.9%.
